Hoya pottsii Red star Plant
Per piece
Apocynaceae
China, Yunnan and Taiwan
Hoya pottsii 'Red star' is a fast-growing, twining hoya with leaves up to 15cm x 8cm. The leaves thick fleshy, with short stalk, ovate-shaped to ovate-shaped elliptic, apex acuminate, veins pinnate is not obvious. The corolla are white, star-shaped, with red centers. Up to 20 flowers per umbel. They are heavily scented with a sweet fragrance
Hoya thrives well in semi-shady locations and with even watering. It grows quite slowly. They are easy to grow & don't require much attention. The plant do best in filtered light or with lots of artificial light in indoors.
Hoya plants don't ask for much, beyond the well-draining soil and the warm humid conditions (similar to bromeliads and orchids)
They are epyphite, can be grown in orchid medium or light potting mix with lots of bark conditioner. Hoya like the security of a snug pot, and plants that are a bit root bound will flower more prolifically than those that are swimming around in a giant pot.
This plant is attractive to bees, butterflies and/or birds .
It makes a nice hanging basket, but also does really well as a mounted plant
